I understand that the GROWTH of the sport depends on drawing in new members.

I will not harm, intimidate, or gatekeep those who are less experienced than myself. I will foster an environment of learning and camaraderie, and leverage my experience and knowledge for others’ benefit. 

I understand that the APPEAL of the sport is based on inclusivity, not exclusivity.

I will foster a welcoming environment for everyone and will not prejudge or discriminate on the basis of gender identity, religion, sexual orientation, ethnicity, nationality, voting preference, education, or socioeconomic status.

I understand that the SECURITY of the sport depends on new teams having spaces to practice in, often as guests.

I will respect the environment my team calls home, and keep it clean and tidy. I will respect the rules and operating hours of our home and treat any staff or workers with courtesy. I will make sure that my presence and my team’s presence is a pleasure and a benefit to everyone around me.

I understand that the SAFETY of the sport is my responsibility.

I will never strike a person with my lightsaber that is not physically equipped and mentally prepared for it. I will never strike a person in anger. I will never use my lightsaber without being aware of who and what is around me.

I understand that the AFFORDABILITY and ENJOYMENT of the sport partially rely on my responsible use of force.

I will temper my power level for my sparring partners, whether they are smaller, weaker, slower, or younger than myself. I will recognize the difference between sparring, bouting, and competition, and moderate my strength accordingly.

I understand that the INTEGRITY of the sport partially relies on my honesty and conduct.

I will remember that referees make mistakes, sometimes favoring me and sometimes favoring my opponent. I will not knowingly accept points for the former, nor will I hold it against them for the latter. I will give the benefit of the doubt to my referee and my opponent.

I understand that the FUTURE of the sport lies with the younger generation.

I will set a good example for minors in and out of the ring. I will prefer to take a loss to a minor than to overpower them with my greater size and strength or to cause them harm. I will defeat them with skill and experience. I will win well or not at all.
